The specific selection of knowledge, experiments or theories, that have decisively helped physics, provide an insight of the history of physics and antiquity to the modern times. Thereby the historical meaning of the knowledge as well as their physical contents with help of simple experiments and theoretical considerations are displayed. Every chapter portrays the life and the personality of individual male and female scientists, who had a crucial role in the development of physics. Beside the lecture one should examine the epistemological aspects of physics during the different centuries in a seminar. In addition we will read original documents by Ohm, Hertz, Planck, and Einstein and prepare historical experiments.
This lecture turns primarily to students of physics, and in particular to future teachers. However, it is also suited for enthusiasts interested in the matter of physics.
